Pahrump! What, or where, the heck is that? (I bet you're wondering.) Having 40,000 residents and only three traffic lights, Pahrump lies some 45 miles west of Las Vegas in a parched valley flanked by majestic mountains peaking at 12,000 feet. Pahrump, (Paiute) Indian for “water rock,” is fittingly the largest town in Nevada’s largest county: Nye. To give you an idea of the enormity of Nye County, it is roughly the same size of the U.S. states of Delaware, New Jersey, Connecticut and Rhode Island combined, or more simply twice the size of Massachusetts. In the age of high-tech computers, innovative software and blazing Internet bringing the familiar urban office to the rural study, Pahrump is a serene and scenic locale to hold court.
